Don Brown originally came to Liv Real Estate as an intern, in his fourth year of a business economics and law major at the University of Alberta. During his academic tenure he held various elected seats and was able to take an active role in Students’ Council, the Students’ Association re-branding, student advocacy for a 24 hour study space, the Students’ Council Advisory Committee, and sat as an alternate for the School of Business on the Academic Governance Council.
During his time there he was exposed to members of the commercial real estate industry through the co-op information session and a new class offering “Introduction to Real Estate.” This sprouted an insatiable interest for Don, as he completed his introductory course offering he was able to volunteer and network with commercial players around the city. He was able to attend a number of events including the Edmonton and Calgary real estate forums and various industry mixers. Simultaneously he won a scholarship from the Appraisal Institute of Canada, was able to create a Edmonton industrial real estate research project as a business elective for academic credit and further went on to a research internship for Colliers assisting the Multi-Family Investment Division.
Personally, Don enjoys being active and outdoors when he’s not in the office or in class. He is an avid weightlifter and rarely passes up the opportunity to play hockey, softball, run in the river valley or for charity in the city and abroad. He enjoys travelling, reading and is looking forward to a lot more of the former post graduation. He has his sights on continuing to build a real estate career here in the City of Edmonton, while putting his roots down in the community and establishing and building a family in his home town.
