Mount Royal is a long-standing community that comprises two sub-communities, separated by an escarpment that segments the Upper and Lower halves. 17th Avenue SW contains Lower Mount Royal to the north, with College Lane SW to the east, Bagot Avenue SW and Royal Avenue SW to the south, and 14th Street SW to the west.

Macleod Trail and Crowchild Trail are easily accessible to Lower Mount Royal, offering a direct route to major work centres, prominent green spaces, and educational institutions.
