The community of Manchester is bordered by 42 Avenue SE to the north, 1st Street SE to the east, 58th Avenue SW to the south, and Macleod Trail SW to the west. It is also known as Alyth, in reference to Alyth Yard, a 0.68 km2 yard that is attached to the community and operated by the Canada Pacific Railway near Calgary's industrial district.

Parks, Trails & Green Spaces

Although Manchester sits at the heart of the city's industrial district, you will not be deprived of the stunning natural beauty that the city has to offer. Some of Calgary's most picturesque parks are minutes away by car, such as Pearce Estate Park, a diverse ecosystem of still ponds and marshes, streams, a variety of tree species, and wildlife. Minutes away from Pearce Estate Park are the Inglewood Wildlands, a bird watcher's paradise! The tranquil nature preserve is a well-maintained oasis and the ideal escape from a busy work life. There are river views, trails, for walks, jogs, and bike rides, with an extensive list of bird species for a wonderful viewing experience.

The Bow River Trail extends further south with a large segment of the massive, looping trail bordering Manchester-Alyth's eastern boundary.

Education 

The community is served by two public institutions which are located in surrounding communities. Elboya Elementary offers kindergarten to grade nine and French immersion training.

Western Canada High School is an excellent option for high school, with an extensive list of extracurricular programs, clubs, the prestigious International Baccalaureate program, French immersion, and career-specific, off-campus work experience.

Transportation & Accessibility 

There is currently one bus line that serves Manchester, which runs north to south along Macleod Trail and Fairmount Drive. You can expect commute as far north as crescent Heights, as east as the Foothills, south as Somerset, and west as Lincoln Park, within 30 minutes.  

Manchester is ideally positioned Macleod Trail, Glenmore Trail, and Deerfoot Trail, making it one of the most easily accessible communities in the city. You will enjoy multiple routes to major work destinations and popular venues within the city!
