The Area

Evergreen spans 4.6 square kilometres of land, making it one of the largest in Calgary in terms of land area. The community is subdivided into Evergreen Estates, established in 1986, and Evergreen, established in 1999. Evergreen is home to predominantly detached single-family dwellings with spacious lots for front and back yards. Homes along the northern tip of the community enjoy stunning views of Fish Creek Provincial Park, which spans across its northern border. 

Although Evergreen is an upscale community, there is also a range of affordable starter homes, such as newly constructed duplexes, condominiums, and apartments. You will be in excellent company with neighbours such as Bridlewood, Shawnessy, Millrise, and Shawnee Slopes!

Amenities, Attractions, & Entertainment

Since Evergreen Estates was established before Evergreen, each community has maintained their own association. Evergreen Estates is served by a joint community association with Shawnee Slopes and Shawnee Park, known as the Shawnee-Evergreen Community AssociationThe Calgary Evergreen Community Association is designated for Evergreen. However, the entire community maintains a strong sense of identity as a welcoming and embracing place to live. 

 Daily conveniences are within ten minutes at the Shawnessy Shopping Centre with multiple supermarkets, electronic retail stores, a Landmark Cinema, home furnishing and hardware, retail clothing stores, fresh juice, and fast-food and family restaurants. You will have your choice of options, with the Shawnessy YMCA and the Cardel Recreation Centre for a variety of sports programs, with state-of-the-art facilities!

Parks, Trails & Green Spaces

With Fish Creek Park at your front doorstep, you are treated to over 100 kilometres of paved and unpaved trails, suitable for family walks, hikes, rollerblading, and viewing the local wildlife. You will enjoy boating and catch-and-release fishing, along the river, with cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter!

For equestrian sports lovers, Spruce Meadows lies right in your backyard. This fantastic facility boasts world-class jumping courses, frequent tournaments and events and several thoroughbreds for rider training! 

Education 

Students of Evergreen enjoy access to several public schools within the community and surrounding areas. Evergreen Elementary School accepts students from kindergarten to grade five, with Dr. Freda Miller Elementary School as an alternative. Our Lady of the Evergreens School is a Catholic alternative from kindergarten to grade six.

For middle school, Marshall Springs School offers grades six to nine. Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School is located within ten minutes of Evergreen, offering Advanced Placement courses, off-campus work experience, dual credit programs, and clubs and sports programs.  

Transportation & Accessibility 

Three bus lines within Evergreen allow for a 30-minute commute as far north as Manchester and east as Sundance. Shawnessy LRT Station on Calgary's north-to-southbound Red Line is within ten minutes of Evergreen. Evergreen is accessible via James McKevitt SW, 162 Avenue SW, and 15th Avenue SW.

Macleod Trail is easily accessible via James McKevitt Road, offering a 25-minute commute to the downtown core.

With Stony Trail immediately west of Evergreen, work centres in the northwest, such as the University of Calgary, Alberta Children's Hospital, and Foothills Medical Centre, are within 25 minutes via Sarcee Trail.
