Born and raised on the Southside of Edmonton, I am the youngest of 3 girls and arguably the ‘quiet one’ in our Family! Seeing as I was the shy one, my older sister encouraged me to pursue my first post-secondary job in sales; which she saw to be a big step outside of my comfort zone. It was a huge surprise to me and my family, that sales proved to be my ‘niche’ and provided the breeding grounds for much personal development.
I believe that I excelled at sales because I didn’t fit the stereotype of a typical ‘sales’ person. I wasn’t loud and ‘in your face’ and I especially wasn’t concerned with making a quick sale. If I didn’t fully believe in what I was selling, I wasn’t selling it. Period. I started out selling cell phones – I did this happily for 6 years and really learned how to hone my communication skills (no pun intended). Purchasing a cell phone can easily become a nightmare for people, especially when there are hidden terms and clauses in their contracts. I prided myself on being the best at explaining the fine print fully to my clients and getting them to understand their purchases, long before they signed on the dotted line.
I’ve also been a Certified Diamontologist and can evaluate the quality of any diamond; my clients today, in Real Estate, don’t question me when I tell them that a Property really is ‘A Diamond in the Rough.’ I know a gem when I see one;)
Cathy-mountainsI was introduced to real estate from the ground up, starting as an assistant, then moving into a buyer’s agent role before becoming a full-service agent. I absolutely love the satisfaction I get from doing this job. I feel that in many ways, I am a ‘realist’. I love that my clients often see things with rose coloured glasses, but I also enjoy being the one to keep them grounded and remind them of their ‘Real Estate Goals’ and how certain properties best meet their personal, financial, and long-term goals. I love helping my clients see the bigger picture in each property!
I am equally passionate about food and travel. I am up-to-date with every new Restaurant in Edmonton, and I know the best places to eat from personal experience. My view of the world as an Adult has largely been shaped by my extensive travels, and when I travel, I am unabashed to say that I am all about the food. I have had the privilege of eating a good meal in a few far off places including, Egypt, Jordan, China, Hong Kong, Panama, Thailand, Mexico, Vietnam and Cambodia.
