The Area
Manchester has benefitted from an area action development plan that has relieved traffic and congestion while converting industrial areas into residential dwellings. The residential district is contained within a land area of 0.5 square kilometres. You will find predominantly multi-family dwellings, with a portion of single-family detached options and newly renovated interiors also available.
The properties in this charming neighbourhood maintain constant interest, as the area contains many apartment options, with multi-row condominiums and townhouses for you to consider! You will also notice a variety of single and split-level bungalows with plots for front and backyards. As a resident of this charming community, your neighbours will be Ramsay, Mills Estate, and Inglewood.
Amenities, Attractions, & Entertainment
As the city's 16th most walkable community according to www.walkscore.com, you will encounter dozens of bars, coffee shops, and restaurants within the immediate area. Along Macleod Trail are gas stations, banks, ATMs, excellent burger and shake joints and bubble tea options.
In the summer months, Manchester hosts the Crossroads Market, an in-and-outdoor farmer, food and flea market, and a must-see for all residents! Further south is Chinook Centre, Calgary's largest mall, boasting hundreds of clothing stores, boutiques, luxury clothing brands, a movie theatre, three anchor stores, and much more. Additionally, you will also find many local businesses and service providers throughout the district.
Manchester also benefits from its proximity to Inglewood, with the community serving as the city's cultural and artistic heartbeat. The area hosts several events throughout the year, drawing in tens of thousands of annual visitors! Flames fans will also love the fact that the Saddledome and live flames games are minutes away!
Parks, Trails & Green Spaces
Although Manchester sits at the heart of the city's industrial district, you will not be deprived of the stunning natural beauty that the city has to offer. Some of Calgary's most picturesque parks are minutes away by car, such as Pearce Estate Park, a diverse ecosystem of still ponds and marshes, streams, a variety of tree species, and wildlife. The area also has a playground and several pathways and trails that run parallel to the Bow River.
Minutes away from Pearce Estate Park are the Inglewood Wildlands, a bird watcher's paradise! The tranquil nature preserve is a well-maintained oasis and the ideal escape from a busy work life. There are river views, trails, for walks, jogs, and bike rides, with an extensive list of bird species for a wonderful viewing experience.
The Bow River Trail extends further south with a large segment of the massive, looping trail bordering Manchester-Alyth's eastern boundary.
Education
The community is served by two public institutions which are located in surrounding communities. Elboya Elementary offers kindergarten to grade nine and French immersion training.
Western Canada High School is an excellent option for high school, with an extensive list of extracurricular programs, clubs, the prestigious International Baccalaureate program, French immersion, and career-specific, off-campus work experience.
