Deerfoot Trail is the main road running through Southeast Calgary and it provides access from the southern suburbs of the city to Northeast Calgary and on to the city of Airdrie. The Trans-Canada Highway runs through the city, providing access in the west to the town of Banff and the province of British Columbia, and east to Medicine Hat and the province of Saskatchewan. The city's main transportation system is the C-Train, which is a light rail transit system that travels to many communities throughout the city. The Calgary International Airport is located in the northeastern portion of the city and provides both domestic and international flights to areas throughout Canada and the United States.

There are also a wide range of festivals that visit the city throughout the year including the Sled Island Music Festival in June, the Folk Music Festival in July and the Calgary International Blues Festival in July, which has featured a variety of popular performers throughout the years. One of the most popular and well known events in the city is the Calgary Stampede, which is held each July and is known as the greatest outdoor show on earth. In addition to a variety of rides, shows and midway foods, the event plays host to traditional rodeo events like chuck wagon racing, calf roping and bull riding.
