The Area
Huntington Hills was annexed in 1961 and established shortly after, in 1967. The 4.4 square kilometres that span the community are filled with mature shade and coniferous trees, accentuating the quant and cozy classic prairie Bungalows at affordable prices. However, there are also many options for multi-family dwellings, such as apartments and condominiums.
Huntington offers a quick commute to primary work centres, with plenty of parks and playgrounds for children, making it an excellent choice for newlyweds and families with young children. Your neighbours will be Beddington Heights, North Haven, and Thorncliffe!
Amenities, Attractions, & Entertainment
With the Huntington Hills Community Association serving the community, you will enjoy a variety of drop-in sports and recreation programs, frequent community events, and children's camps. There is a large supermarket at the heart of the community, with the Beddington Towne Centre, located a stone's throw away, with two more options for supermarkets, sports bars, family and fast-food venues, aestheticians, banks, convenience stores, gas stations, and more.
Huntington Hills is centred between Country Hills Golf & Country Club, McCall Lake Golf Course, The Fox Hollow Golf Course, and Confederation Park Golf Course, giving you several options for tee time!
Parks, Trails & Green Spaces
If you enjoy Calgary's incredible natural beauty, then you will love living in Huntington Hills. Nose Hill Park boasts 11 square kilometres of sprawling hills with hiking trails, trees, shrubs, wildflowers, streams, ponds, and wildlife. As Canada's fourth largest urban park, Nose Hill is the ideal venue for family days, romantic walks, personal escapes, and workouts. Your family mascot will also love Nose Hill Park, as there are several off-leash areas to let out some energy!
The Nose Creek Pathway is also in proximity, with 73 hectares of unique pathways with signage, bridges, running streams, and wildlife.
Education
Children of Huntington Hills are served by an astonishing ten public and Catholic schools within the community and the immediate area. Alex Munro School, Catherine Nichols Gunn School, and Huntington Hills School each offer kindergarten to grade six, with St. Henry Elementary School and St. Hubert Elementary as Catholic alternatives.
Sir John A. Macdonald and St. Helena Junior High School are middle schools that accommodate students from grades seven to nine. John G. Diefenbaker High School offers the prestigious International Baccalaureate program, dual credit, and off-campus work experience.
Transportation & Accessibility
Despite the community's northward position, it is highly accessible via several different routes and bus lines. Eight bus lines operate within Huntington Hills, allowing a 30-minute commute as far north as Country Hills Village, east as the Calgary International Airport, south as the downtown core, and west as the University of Calgary.
Huntington Hills is easily accessible, with 14th Street NW, Centre Street N, and Deerfoot Trail leading to it. Residents are within 20 minutes of the downtown core, Foothills Medical Centre, and Alberta Children's Hospital.
