The Area

Fairview comprises 2.1 square kilometres of land annexed in 1956 and established in 1959. The community enjoys an abundance of mature Shade and Coniferous trees, accentuating the detached single-family homes, which sit on larger-than-average land lots.

The properties range from classic Prairie to Craftsman style bungalows of the era, with internal renovations. However, there is a large portion of apartments and condominiums in the area which accommodate for multiple families to live in comfort.

Residents of Fairview enjoy immediate access to premier shopping destinations, proximity to terrific city parks, and quality public schools. Your neighbours will be the dynamic communities of Kelvin Grove, Haysboro, and Acadia.

Amenities, Attractions, & Entertainment

Fairview's community association is leading the initiative to modernize the community with amenities to appeal to the youth. This includes a BMX bike pump track and frequent, family-oriented events ranging from the parade of garage sales, community fundraising events, and skates with Santa in the festive season.

With Macleod Trail to the west of Fairview, you are spoiled for choice for popular international cuisine and family restaurants, fast food, sports bars, convenience stores, bubble tea, barbers, salons and aestheticians, and much more. Fairview rests between CF Chinook Centre and Deerfoot Meadows, where you can find everything from groceries and daily essentials to the latest styles and trends and the newest movie releases!

Parks, Trails & Green Spaces

Fairview is ideally positioned within ten minutes of some of Calgary's most beloved parks and green spaces. Glenmore Reservoir comprises 347 hectares of lush and ample areas with paved walkways and trails, several playgrounds, a spray water park, a musical garden, a polo field, and a BMX bike track, which surround the Glenmore Reserve. The Glenmore Reservoir trail leads to the Weaselhead Flats, with 237 more hectares of hiking trails, surrounded by diverse plants and wildlife.

Sue Higgins Park boasts 62 hectares of enclosed green space with the Bow River flowing to the east. This large park has an expansive area for your family pet, walking paths lined with mature trees, riverside seating areas, and picnic tables.

Education

Within the community are Le Roi Daniels School serving students from kindergarten to grade three, and Fairview School, which teaches grades four to nine. Each option offers a traditional learning centre emphasizing personal responsibility, time management, and problem-solving.

West Island College is a private option for grades seven to twelve, with selective admissions criteria, enhanced curriculums, and excellent amenities. For secondary school, Lord Beaverbrook High School in Acadia offers Advanced Placement courses, dual credit programs, and off-campus work experience.

Transportation & Accessibility

Several bus lines within the community allow for a 30-minute commute as far north as the downtown core, east as Foothills, south as Sommerset, and west as Lincoln Park. Fairview is centred between Heritage and Chinook LRT Stations, which run on Calgary's north-to-southbound Red Line.

Fairview is highly accessible via Macleod Trail and Glenmore Trail SW. Macleod Trail yields a commute to the downtown core within 15 minutes, with Deerfoot Trail as an alternative.
