Houses For Sale in East Calgary

Included below are homes for sale in East Calgary, a community in Calgary.

Located in the southern region of the province of Alberta, East Calgary is situated to the east of the Bow River and includes the communities of Sunridge, Falconridge, Penbrooke Meadows, Forest Lawn and Southview. As part of the largest city in Alberta, East Calgary is home to a variety of industries and sectors including financial services, transportation, tourism and energy. The area that makes up modern day Calgary was once inhabited by the Blackfoot Natives, and in the 18th century it was a site for a post of the North-West Mounted Police. In 1883, the area became a hub for commercial activity with the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway. It became incorporated as a city in 1884. With the advent of farming and agriculture in the 19th century, Calgary experienced dramatic settlement. The discovery of oil in 1947 has shaped the economy of the city and Alberta, and since then it has developed into one of the country's most prominent metropolitan centres. With the proximity of the popular town of Banff and the Rocky Mountains, the city of Calgary and its Eastern section features the best amenities a city has to offer alongside the natural splendour of the local geography.
