Chaparral is a residential community in South Calgary settled around a large lake with two schools and several parks. Surrounding areas include Sundance to the north, Silverado to the west, Walden to the south and Bow River and Fish Creek Provincial Park to the east.

Waterfront Estates and Luxury Attached Units

Chaparral covers a lot of land but has not been overdeveloped so the homes that have been built here have plenty of space and privacy. The large estates that line the lake and surrounding park have private docks that give them immediate access to the water. There is a beach for all residents and their guests with access to tennis courts, playgrounds, a rink and the recreation centre. A number of duplexes and attached housing fills out the remainder of the community, with enough area in between developments for more green space than almost any other South Calgary community.

Outdoor Parks and Recreation along Bow River

Luxury homes deserve luxury amenities and Chaparral has them in supply. Bow River runs along the west of the community and Fish Creek Provincial Park is directly to the north and there are several recreational areas around them. McKenzie Meadows Golf Club and Blue Devil Golf Club run along each side of the river, providing a great way to experience the scenery while getting in some rounds of golf. The Sikome Aquatic Facility is a water park operated by the city out of Fish Creek Provincial Park that offers a great place to bring the family on hot summer days. The park to the north is lined with many pedestrian paths and off-trail hiking opportunities that take visitors around the park and along the waterfront.
