A backsplash is the panel of material installed behind your sink, stove and along countertops that protects the wall from spills and splashes. Beyond its functional purpose, a backsplash can also add style, finish and even value to your kitchen and home. Here are some benefits of the backsplash:

It protects your walls.

Photo Credit: Tile & Stone Source International The main reason why you would install backsplash behind your sink and countertops in the bathroom and kitchen is to protect the walls from splashing water and other splatters.  If your wall is constantly getting wet, especially behind the sink, you could get some water damage. Mildew and mould can also start to grow, which is hazardous to your health and a pain to deal with.

It can cover gaps between the wall and countertop.

Sometimes when you install granite or other stone countertops, you can have a slight gap between the wall and counter surface. It’s likely that the countertop is cut straight, but the walls of your house are not perfectly straight. Tile installers in Edmonton can install a beautiful backsplash that will completely cover that gap, giving your kitchen renovation a smooth and attractive finish.

It can increase resale value.

Kitchen renovations can increase the value of your property and make your home more marketable. Having a stunning tile backsplash can make your home aesthetically pleasing and turn your kitchen into a completely finished and very sellable product. The use of tile is not limited to backsplash either. Having tile used throughout your home can give it a unique selling feature and help your home stand out on the market. Read how tile can enhance any room in the house.

It is versatile in design.

Though you’ll find a huge variety of tile backsplash options from local tile stores in Edmonton, you have a lot of options when it comes to backsplash materials and styles. Glass backlashes are nice too - I've seen people install glass over small tiles so they are easier to clean, and frosted/colored glass looks amazing by itself
