Moving is a huge adjustment that impacts the whole family, including children. Whether you are moving down the street, to a new neighbourhood, or to a new city, province or country altogether, your children will need support during this transition. We are sharing our top 5 tips for making the transition as smooth and positive as possible.
1. Communicate with your children
- Talk to your child about the move in age-appropriate terms as soon as possible.
- Be prepared for and allow all the different feelings they may have.
- Share your feelings in age-appropriate ways to show your child that all feelings are normal and that they are not alone.
- Talk about what will change and what will stay the same.

April saw the most sales in any month since at least 2008 (that's as far back as my spreadsheet goes). There were 2,868 residential sales in the Greater Edmonton Area in April, up 104% over the 5-year average (last April was an anomaly due to COVID so it's more reasonable to compare to the 5-year average). To put things in perspective, in June 2007 when the market was as hot as we'd ever seen, there were 2203 sales. Most affordable listings are pending within a day or two of hitting the market, often with a backup offer in place. The good news for buyers is that most are still able to get offers accepted with conditions whereas most homes sold without conditions back in '07.

With winter’s last big hurrah finally behind us (cross fingers, knock on wood, say the rosary), homeowners in Edmonton can finally start dreaming about summertime, and planning all the ways they’re going to soak up the few months of warmth we’re about to have.
